We would like to begin our meeting by recognizing the First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples of Canada as traditional stewards of the land.  The municipality is located within the boundary of Treaty 18 region of 1818 which is the traditional land of the Anishnaabek, Haudenosaunee and Wendat-Wyandot-Wyandotte peoples.

    THAT the Agenda of December 15, 2020 be approved as circulated, including any additions to the Agenda.

NOTE: In accordance with the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act and the Town Procedural By-law 2019-56, Sustainability Advisory Committee Members must file a written statement of the interest and its general nature with the Clerk for inclusion on the Registry.

    THAT the Minutes of November 12, 2020 be approved as circulated, including any revisions to be made.

     

Re: Integrated Community Sustainability Plan Project Update

NOTE: In accordance with the Town Procedural By-law 2019-56 fifteen minutes is allotted at the Meeting to receive public comments regarding Sustainability Advisory Committee matters included on the Agenda. The speaker shall provide their name and address, and shall address their comments to the Chair. Comments shall not refer to personnel, litigation or potential litigation matters, or matters that are a follow-up to a Public Meeting.

NOTE: Committee meetings are currently being held virtually to assist with social distancing with respect to COVID-19. Comments received from the public that have not been included on the Agenda will be read at the meeting by the Executive Assistant.

    THAT the Sustainability Advisory Committee appoints (one public member) as Co-Chair of the Committee effective December 15, 2020 for a period of eighteen (18) months.

  • Recommended (Move, Second)

    THAT the Sustainability Advisory Committee endorses the Knowledge Series Presentation Proposal as presented, and requests staff to facilitate the presentations accordingly;

     

    AND THAT the Sustainability Advisory Committee requests Council to extend the Knowledge Series Presentation opportunity to all other Committees of Council, members of Council and Town staff in a manner deemed sufficient by the Town Clerk

Scheduling conflicts in 2021 have led to staff requesting the Committee to consider if an alternate date/time can be selected for 2021 meeting dates.

Current meeting schedule: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2:00 p.m.

Options for 2021 meeting schedule:

  1. 2nd Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m.
  2. 4th Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m.
  3. 1st Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. (exception: January 2021)

NOTE: where any scheduling conflict exists between a Council meeting and a Committee meeting, an alternate date/time will be selected for the Committee meeting.

    THAT with respect to 2021 Committee Meeting Dates, the Sustainability Advisory Committee selects (option a, b, c) as the 2021 meeting schedule and requests staff to provide this information to Council.

  3. Development Charges - Other Initiatives
  4. Renewable Energy

Composition of sub-committees will be considered in January 2021 once full Committee complement is achieved

  3. Rural Access to Broadband Internet Technology (RABIT) Task Force
  4. BMAHC Design Guidelines Task Force

NOTE: Former Deputy Mayor Odette Bartnicki was the previous Sustainability representative

    THAT the Sustainability Advisory Committee appoints (one member) as the Committee representative and appoints (one member) as the Committee representative alternate to the Economic Development Advisory Committee for the balance of the 2018-2022 Term.
